Middle TN Newborn Photography: Ollie Roen {16 days new}

March 25th, 2012

If you read Payton’s blog post, then you might have been waiting in anticipation for this one. :) Her BFF is on the blog today!!

This is Ollie Roen, and she just couldn’t wait to meet me. I’m serious– that’s why she came a month early! Ollie’s mom, Lacey, is my very best friend. So, Ollie is the closest thing to a niece that I have. I’m so ready to spoil this sweet, sweet baby girl!!

I know I photograph a lot of beautiful babies, but I was so glad to finally photograph one with such a gorgeous head of hair. Isn’t she stunning?

Have I  mentioned that I love my job and amazing clients lately?

Middle Tn Newborn Photographer: Payton {one week old}

March 21st, 2012

I feel like I say this all the time, but today’s blog post is extra special. ;)    This precious little girl is Payton, the beautiful daughter of one of my best friends. Her mother is the kind of old friend that has all kinds of blackmail info on me, but who will never tell. We’ve been friends since elementary school and just got closer as time went on, especially when my husband was in Iraq. So, of course, it was a complete honor to take Payton’s newborn portraits.

We set up in Payton’s room, which is full of cute furniture and lots of pink. (You can tell that she’s already spoiled. I love it!) Her mom and grandma watched as we dressed her in gifts given by family members. FYI: It makes me so happy when clients have special bracelets, hats, blankets, etc. that they want their newborn photographed with. It makes those images even more special!

Here are a few of my favorites from the session:

(Cool side story: Our other best friend from high school had a baby girl on the same day, about four hours later!  It was definitely a big day for us all. I’ll be photographing Payton’s BFF, Ollie Roen, tomorrow… so be on the lookout for that blog post soon!)

Nashville Newborn Photography: Aspen Jo {Nine Days Old}

March 7th, 2012

Baby Aspen’s parents have been friends of mine for years. That always makes taking a little one’s newborn portraits even more of an honor. I’ve reached that age where many, many people that I’ve grown up with are having babies and it’s so much fun to reminisce about our childhood and think about who these babies will grow up to be.

If Aspen is anything like her parents, she’ll be funny, someone that puts others before herself, and one heck of a basketball player. I look forward to taking her senior pictures in about seventeen or eighteen years and picking out the traits that she got from Amanda and Alan.

I love these first images of her in the purple, mainly because she’s wearing her great-grandmother’s pearl necklace. Isn’t that so sweet?

She also seems to like to pick on me like her dad. Just check out the fifth image. ;) Have I mentioned that I love my job lately?

By the way, I haven’t mentioned in a while, but my mom totally rocks for being my right-hand gal on my photo shoots. If you’re a client of mine, then you’ve seen how great she is. We already seem to read each other’s minds, so it just makes sense that she assists at most of my shoots. Thanks for making everything runs smoothly when I’m wrapped up in getting “the shot”, Mom!

Nashville Lifestyle Photography: Konnor {One Year}

February 1st, 2012

Sweet Konnor is no stranger in front of my camera. I’ve been so honored to photograph him at three, six, nine, and now twelve months! Yep, this handsome little guy is one year old!

We met up for a session last Saturday morning and he showed me how fast he is. The last time I saw him, he was barely standing. Now, the little guys likes to run everywhere. :)

Middle TN Children’s Photographer: Abigail {Cake Smash}

January 23rd, 2012

Earlier today, I had the pleasure of photographing sweet Abigail’s one-year cake smash!  I’ve been wanting to do a cake smash for some time now, so this was a sweet treat for me today (pun totally intended). ;)

What made this session extra special was that Abigail’s mom and I grew up together. It’s so much fun to meet up with old friends to meet their little ones and catch up.

Abigail is a girl after my own heart. She dove into the cake immediately. I think she must have a sweet tooth like I do.

Here are a few of my favorite images from our session today. I think they would make the sweetest mounted collage using my easel prints. Don’t you?

Enjoy!

Middle TN Newborn Photography: Cash

January 21st, 2012

I love newborn photography. Yes, the sessions take twice as long and I’ve been peed on multiple times, but nothing beats getting paid to rock and play with babies. I’m slowly perfecting my soothing and posing techniques for the little ones, and I’m very excited to share the last newborn session that I shot with you.

Meet Cash. His due date is this coming Monday, but the little guy decided to come early. With a few complications, Cash was sent to Vanderbilt for a couple weeks. I went to meet him while he was in the NICU, and I was able to snap a few photos of him and his dad. It was humbling to see his parents looking so scared and strong at the same time. Faith in God got them through it, and they invited me into their home this past week for Cash’s newborn session. He looked like a completely different baby and is completely healthy! As tiny as this sweet baby is, he’s one strong little fighter.

While I was setting up for this session, Cash’s mom mentioned how it was like they were getting star treatment. When you book a newborn session, you have the option of having me come set up in your home with very little effort on your part. You may certainly choose to watch, but Lindsey and Erich chose to watch a movie and order pizza. They wanted these images to be a surprise.

Lindsey and Erich, I hope you love these as much as I do!

Sara and Jase’s Legacy Farm Wedding {Nashville Wedding Photography}

January 14th, 2012

I recently had the honor of second shooting Sara and Jase’s Legacy Farm wedding with my good friend Mandy Whitley. She’s a very funny and wonderful photographer that has hired me to help her shoot a couple weddings. This wedding in particular was absolutely perfect. You can read all about the details and vendors on her blog, so I’ll just skip ahead to the fun part. :) Here are a few of my favorites that I shot throughout the day. Enjoy!

Nashville Newborn Photography: Liam Michael {6 Days New}

January 5th, 2012

Christmas was extended a few days for new parents Mike and Andrea this year. At 7:52am on the 27th, they welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world. Liam Michael is one of the sweetest babies I have ever photographed.

I set up my roving studio in their dining room this past Monday and got to spend the afternoon with them. Liam was the perfect little baby model as I tried different hats on him. (The first hat is one that I made for his session, the second hat was one that I just couldn’t pass up as I was shopping on Etsy, and the last hat was also made especially for Liam by one of Andrea’s best friends.)

Both Mike and Andrea are sports fans and former athletes, and I loved the idea of incorporating that into Liam’s session.

I think it’s safe to say that we bonded that afternoon as we rocked, watched the snow fall, and  took a few photos.  Newborn sessions are so special, and I cannot wait to watch this little guy grow up.

Mr. Wilhite, The Yodeling Substitute {Middle Tn Portrait Photographer}

December 31st, 2011

When I was in the second or third grade, our substitute teacher took his teeth out to play the harmonica for my class. All of the other kids thought it was either funny or cool. I, on the other hand, couldn’t believe that my grandpa did that in front of my friends! Since that day, he’s never stopped surprising, impressing, teaching, loving, and inspiring me.

My grandpa is known throughout my hometown as “Mr. Wilhite, the yodeling substitute”. He taught math for thirty years and then substitute taught for over twenty. At eighty-three, he’s a man who still counts everything and can tell you exactly how many thousands of church/summer-league softball games he’s pitched. He attends as many high school and college sporting events as he can and often sings the National Anthem for everyone. He still works in his garden and delivers turnip greens to anyone who wants them, and once a week, he sings to people at a local nursing home, just like he’s been doing for years. I’m fairly certain that I get my loves for people, staying busy, and singing loudly in church from my beloved Pa Gene.

He began leading our family in Christmas carols on Christmas Eve, and I was so happy to be able to capture him doing one of the things he loves. He even threw in a few other favorites: Rocky Top, God Bless America, Bill Grogan’s Goat, and my personal favorite- Grandfather’s Clock.

Cling tight to the ones you love.

Hendersonville Maternity Photography: Awaiting Baby Matthew

December 15th, 2011

My friend Jaime is super sweet. We’ve attended church together for a few years and were in the same small group for a while. She has such a kind heart and I love seeing her each week.

When her husband, Jon, secretly contacted me about taking her maternity photos as a surprise for her, I was both excited and nervous. I wasn’t sure if I could keep it a secret if I talked to her, but I was afraid she would think I was avoiding her at church! Luckily, Jon let the cat out of the bag.

The weather in Nashville has been pleasantly warm lately, and this past Sunday was no exception. My husband, Chase, played assistant for the day and held my diffuser for me. I’ll tell you one thing- give me some good friends, good weather, my camera, and my handsome husband and I’m one happy girl!

Here are a few of my favorites from Jaime’s session:
