Nashville Baby Photographer | Ollie Roen {Two Years Old}

You know those photo sessions where both of your small children are happy at the same time and want to look right into my camera and flash their beautiful smiles simultaneously… multiple times… in perfect photo bliss? Or the session where your 2-year-old daughter is happily content while sitting still for an hour-long shoot with multiple outfits??

Yeah, me either.

Sure, I have a few tricks up my sleeve to make the session a success, but let’s be real… there’s no magic secret for a perfect photo session with your little ones. They’re a lot of work and they usually involve animal noises, mimicking games, snack breaks, rolling around on the floor, water breaks, singing, dancing, joke telling, and a little begging, pleading, and bribing. I wish I could take a few of those last things out, and sometimes we get lucky, but most of the time it feels like a workout… a fun workout. :)

And here’s the great part… while I’m sure you might leave the studio wondering if any of your images turned out, 99 times out of 100, our hard work pays off and you get those images that you were hoping for. Time after time, I’ve heard clients say that they can’t believe the great images that came out of a shoot where their child just wasn’t in the mood. I can’t take all the credit though, the moms and dads are right there with me singing songs and chasing children.

Take Ollie, for example. I can call her out because she’s my best friend’s baby, she’s 99.9% perfect, and she knows it. :) At her 2-year session, we must have pulled out every trick in the book to get her to cooperate. She wasn’t misbehaving or even in a bad mood… she’s just two! Two-year-olds don’t understand that I need you to stay in a certain area of the studio or that mommy didn’t want to be in the photos. You can’t blame a girl for wanting to run to her momma and play with her, but that meant that we kept having to put her back in the good light near the window. It involved a lot of running back and forth, and her mom got one heck of a workout that afternoon.

Still, we pulled it off with Ollie’s session, just like we’ve done many times before…

So, if you’re worried that your child (or children) won’t cooperate for a photo session, I’ll be the first to tell you that it is absolutely a possibility…. and I’m ready for it.  Contact me today and let’s schedule our workout… I mean… photo session with your family, because all good things take a little bit of effort, right? ;)
